CalTPA Coaching for Teacher Candidates

Independent coaching for teacher candidates

All programs

I passed the CalTPA myself. I can help you read the requirements, plan the work around your placement, and think through your own teaching.

Who this is for

Maybe a direction is ambiguous, or your placement makes the timeline hard, or you're not sure a lesson shows what the rubric is looking for. We work from the current official materials for your pathway.

Where We Help

Understanding the Requirements

We discuss the directions and terminology in your assessment guide and identify the questions you need to resolve with your program. You remain responsible for the decisions and work submitted for scoring.

Planning the Work

We can map the tasks, program deadlines, and practical arrangements that need attention. That gives you a way to organize the preparation and identify questions before they become last-minute obstacles.

Reflecting on Your Teaching

I use discussion and questions to help you explain your reasoning and reflect on what you observed. You assess your own work against the official criteria and decide what to change. General practice with professional writing or instructional reasoning can also take place outside the responses you will submit for scoring.

Keeping the Work Your Own

Coaching follows the official CalTPA acceptable-support guidance. I do not write or edit submission responses, provide alternative answers, or choose submission clips or annotations for you.

For any discussion of student work or recordings, your program's authorization, applicable permissions, and approved secure arrangements must be in place first. Do not send classroom recordings or identifiable student materials through the general contact form.

Official requirements and where they come from

Work from the current materials assigned to your credential pathway. Your preparation program remains the source for official guidance about your requirements.

Who You Would Be Working With

I'm Keith Reed, a California-credentialed teacher with classroom experience in fourth- and fifth-grade math and science. Tell me your credential pathway and what you need help with, and I'll tell you whether it fits what I can do and what the guidelines allow.

Roots of Reason is independent of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Pearson, and your preparation program, and your program is still the place to settle official questions.

Common Questions

Can you rewrite my responses or pick my video clips?

No. The support focuses on understanding the requirements, planning, and reflecting on your own work. Those submission decisions remain yours.

Which assessment version should I use?

Use the current materials assigned to your credential pathway and confirm questions with your preparation program. Share the assessment name and version when you inquire so the conversation starts from the right requirements.

Can we discuss classroom recordings?

First confirm authorization with your program and the relevant permissions and secure arrangements. Discussion must stay within the official support guidelines; I do not select your evidence for you.

Are sessions online?

Yes. Coaching is offered one-on-one online. We'll agree on the scope and arrangements before starting.

Ask About Coaching
